At the "Green destinations & Future of Tourism 2022" conference, which took place in Athens from September 27 – 30, Trebinje was presented as one of the developing green destinations on the panel "Sustainable development of tourism in the Balkans," and the story from this city was also featured among the best ones.

The city of Trebinje was singled out for the second time as a shining example of tourism with an emphasis on sustainable development, this time with the story "Orjen Nature Park – a protected area in the service of improving the tourist offer and sustainable development." In the competition "Top 100 sustainable development stories" for the year 2022, Trebinje was chosen as one of the best destinations of sustainable tourism. The city received the invitation to the summit based on the Herzeg House story, which was previously declared as the best sustainable development story at the International Tourism Fair in Berlin (ITB Berlin).

"This is an exceptional success for our local community and an indicator of excellent work in the tourism sector in terms of implementing projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the destination," said the mayor of Trebinje, Dražen Bošković.

The topic of the "Green destinations & Future of Tourism 2022" conference was the development of sustainable tourism in tourist destinations, and BiH was represented by members of the sectoral working group for tourism development, which consists of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the Ministry of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Srpska, The Ministry of European Integration and International Cooperation of Srpska, the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, and the Tourism Service of the Government of Brčko District. Representatives of the Preda Prijedor Development Agency, Žepče Development Agency, municipalities of Šamac and Bosanska Krupa, Cantonal Protection Institute, Chamber of Commerce of FBiH and the NGO "Naša perspektiva" from Sarajevo took part in the conference. Their participation, as well as the participation of the City of Trebinje, was supported by GIZ through the EU4Business project.

EU4Business is the forerunner of the EU4BusinessRecovery project, which provides support to BiH companies in mitigating the economic consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is worth 13.7 million euros, and it is financed jointly by the European Union (13 million) and the Federal Republic of Germany (700 thousand). It is implemented by GIZ, ILO and UNDP.
