For competetive and inovative local economy
The
EU4Business
project, worth 16.1 million euros, was co-financed by the European Union (15 million euros) and the Federal Republic of Germany (1.1 million euros), and implemented by GIZ, ILO and UNDP, from April 2018 to July 2022, in order to support the development of the private sector and strengthen the economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In order to support their competitiveness and innovation, more than 10 million euros in grants were allocated to the export-oriented sector, to tourism, agriculture and rural development and entrepreneurship, as well as their development, in 82 development projects throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Among others, 11 partner projects were supported to alleviate obstacles to innovation, growth and development of export sectors, as well as 23 export-oriented companies, and 8 projects from the tourism sector. In the field of entrepreneurship, the focus was placed on five projects which supported the establishment of 123 new businesses and start-ups, of which 53 in the IT sector. Furthermore, 35 projects in the agriculture and rural development sector received support.
EU4Business, among other factors, contributed to the creation of 913 new jobs in all supported areas (export-oriented sectors, tourism, agri-food sector and rural development and entrepreneurship). The end users were micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, farmers and entrepreneurs, with special emphasis on youth, women and vulnerable groups. The project thus improved the business environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The technical support is available to strengthen the capacity of institutions dealing with private sector development in BIH, in the export-oriented sectors, tourism, agri-food sector and rural development, as well as entrepreneurship. The project cooperates with institutions at the entity, district and state level.
