
THE EUROPEN UNION AND THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT SUPPORTED SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES IN OVERCOMING CRISIS CAUSED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMICS
The BetMET project, whose primary aim is the development of the metal sector, enabled the continuation of production and a safer environment in the context of possible problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic for 14 small and medium enterprises by providing them with protective agents and disinfectants in the total value of EUR 20 thousand. Protective equipment packages include non-contact temperature measuring devices, disinfectants, protective suits and visors, masks and gloves.
"The BetMet project contributes to strengthening of the competitiveness of targeted small and medium enterprises in the metal processing sector. The delivered protective packages will enable companies to continue production more safely and respond to high hygiene standards in the protection of employees, workplaces, as well as nearby public areas. The BetMET project will continue to support companies by using innovative technologies and business development services, and by facilitating their access to a highly skilled workforce," underlined Tomislav Majić, President of the Entrepreneurship and Business Association LiNK, Mostar.
The total value of the BetMET project is EUR 404 thousand, of which the European Union provided grants in the amount of EUR 281 thousand within the EU4Business project. The BetMET project aims to develop the metal sector, supports creation of new jobs and the retention of existing ones in the Covid-19 pandemic crises. The BetMET project methodology relies on the continuous development of specialized business development services for targeted SMEs. The services relate to the process of protection of metal surfaces in accordance with EU quality standards, while the project also focuses on improving the level of digitalization of enterprises. The project is implemented by the Entrepreneurship and Business Association LiNK from Mostar, in partnership with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar and the companies IT Department d.o.o. from Mostar and Eurosjaj d.o.o. from Konjic.
EU4Business is the European Union's project aiming to strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina's capacity for economic growth and employment by fostering competitiveness and innovation in selected sectors. EU4Business is worth EUR 16.1, out of which 15 million funded by the European Union and the EUR 1.1 million funded by the Federal Republic of Germany.
