EU provides support to small and medium enterprises from Tešanj and the region through the project "FAB-LAB - Economy based on innovation"
(Tešanj) Tešanj Municipal Development Agency TRA, in partnership with GMC d.o.o. Usora and JET d.o.o. Tešanj, has launched the project "FAB-LAB - Economy based on innovation" (FAB-LAB). The total value of the project is more than 600,000 BAM, of which the European Union provided grants in the amount of more than 450,000 BAM through EU4Business. The direct beneficiaries of the project will be small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the municipality of Tešanj and its region. The project will be implemented in the next 18 months and the overall goal is to strengthen export and employment capacities by improving competitiveness, innovation and digitalization of businesses.
"The project will establish FAB-LAB Centre for the export-oriented companies in the metal and mechanical industry. FAB LAB Centre will operate in the priority areas for strengthening companies through the engagement of top experts, the use of specialized equipment and the application of manuals made according to needs and based on the latest global development trends”, announced prof.dr. Ismar Alagić, director of the Development Agency of Tešanj Municipality TRA.
The FAB LAB Centre will organize training for middle management in the targeted companies, as well as training for specialized workers (e.g. welders, assembly technician) and for a highly skilled workforce. Significant support is also provided in the segment of better internationalization of companies' operations and in the application of digital tools. The FAB LAB project will result with the export growth, job retention and new jobs in targeted companies.
EU4Business is the European Union's project aiming to strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina's capacity for economic growth and employment by fostering competitiveness and innovation in selected sectors. EU4Business is worth EUR 16.1, out of which 15 million funded by the European Union and the EUR 1.1 million funded by the Federal Republic of Germany. The project is jointly implemented by GIZ, UNDP and ILO, from April 2018 to March 2022. EU4Business is part of the Local Self-Government and Economic Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina supported by the German Government.
